Weber State football’s defensive coaching staff took on another change with a recent move, one that continues to make the staff younger and less experienced.

Five-year linebackers coach Matty Ah You is on his way to Colorado State. CSU is yet to announce the hire but ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the move on Feb. 13.

Ah You, who played at BYU and Utah State, was a graduate assistant or defensive analyst in stops at Utah State, Oregon State and BYU before his hire as Weber State linebackers coach for the spring 2021 season.

In his place, third-year head coach Mickey Mental has brought in Brady Daigh as a defensive tackles coach. The hire has not yet been announced but Daigh has updated his bio and header photo on the social media site X to indicate his new position.

Daigh is a Colorado native and played linebacker at the University of Colorado from 2011-14, recording 107 tackles in his four years. His full coaching resume is currently unclear but he coached for two years at UMary, a Division II program in North Dakota, and was a defensive quality control coach at Utah in 2024.

Daigh’s hire moves Justin Mullgrav, another recent addition, to linebackers coach. Mullgrav was initially hired as defensive tackles coach but played linebacker in college and coached linebackers for two seasons at Eastern Washington.

Mullgrav was originally hired to replace Grant Duff, who left to take the defensive coordinator job at Idaho State.

Other recent changes include veteran cornerbacks coach Andre Dyson leaving the staff. Three-year defensive quality control coach and former Wildcat player Keilan Benjamin was promoted to replace Dyson as cornerbacks coach.

The offensive staff is unchanged from last season but Mental has added former WSU quarterback legend Jamie Martin as an offensive analyst.

Starting at $4.32/week.
