Saine, a 5-foot-10 point guard from Western Washington University, announced his decision on Instagram. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Saine chose Weber State over finalists Chattanooga, Northern Kentucky, Texas State, UTRGV and Missouri State. He also held an offer from Coastal Carolina and reported interest from dozens more schools, including Wyoming, Fresno State, UC San Diego and Oregon State.
The native of Everett, Washington, was a first-team all-conference player for Western Washington this season, averaging 17.3 points, 4.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 46.5% overall, 39.6% from 3 on 101 attempts, and 89.8% at the foul line.
Saine netted a career-high 37 points in a road conference game at Western Oregon by shooting 4 of 6 from the 3-point line and 15 of 15 at the free-throw line. He tallied a season-high assist mark of nine with three more eight-assist performances.
The guard led the Vikings to win 11 of their final 13 regular-season games this season. He redshirted at WSU in 2022-23 as a walk-on and then won conference freshman of the year honors in 2023-24, averaging 10.9 points and 2.3 assists per game mostly off the bench.
Saine gives Weber State a veteran presence at point guard after seeing the departure of fifth-year star Blaise Threatt. Saine told Cascadia Daily News two weeks ago that he had 40 Division I schools reach out and about 75 phone calls in the first four days after entering the transfer portal.
Saine told Cascadia Daily News that DI schools were offering $60,000 in NIL money during his recruitment.
He’s Weber State’s second transfer addition this offseason, joining Seattle U big man Malek Gomma (who also has two seasons remaining) as incoming transfers. WSU also recently added freshman guard ArDarius Grayson of Oakland, California, as a commitment.
