As some men’s basketball programs gain leverage over others in Utah, it seems that in-state games are harder to come by each year.

It won’t count, but at least we’ll get one more on the docket in the 2024-25 season.

Weber State and Utah State have scheduled a charity exhibition for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, USU announced Wednesday. It is the first such additional exhibition serving as a charity game in WSU’s history.

Tickets are $10 general admission with $5 “youth” tickets available. Proceeds will go to CAPSA, a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual abuse and rape recovery center supporting Cache and Rich counties.

Tickets can be purchased online at utahstateaggies.evenue.net/events/MBS.

The game lands on fall break for Utah public schools; most high schools in Weber, Davis and Cache counties do not have games scheduled on this Friday.

WSU and USU last played in December 2022, a 75-72 Weber State win. The Wildcats are 2-1 in their last three trips to Logan. Utah State has verbally agreed to return the trip to Ogden for an exhibition next season.

The game gives Weber State two exhibition contests in October. The second is Monday, Oct. 28, when WSU hosts Adams State.

With five seniors, the Wildcats open the regular season Monday, Nov. 4, hosting Northwest Indian College. Weber plays 15 home games this season (six nonconference, nine in the Big Sky), including non-league matchups against Utah Valley, UC Irvine and North Dakota State.
