Ogden Raptors can’t complete rally in Sunday loss to end Glacier series

By BRETT HEIN - Standard-Examiner | Jun 9, 2024

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Ogden Raptors couldn’t find one last bit of fortune Sunday afternoon in Kalispell, Montana, losing the series finale 10-7 against the Glacier Range Riders.

Ogden (6-12) returns home for a six-game series against Billings (10-8) beginning Tuesday at Lindquist Field.

The Raptors started Sunday with some hot bats. Doubles by Pearce Howard and Anthony Herron Jr. drove in three runs and Ogden led 3-1 after the first inning.

Glacier (11-7) beat up Ogden starter Ryan Steckline in the third inning for six runs, however, to take control of the contest. Gavin Tonkel started the inning with a solo homer and Mason Dinesen capped the scoring in the third with a three-run blast to put the Range Riders ahead 7-3.

Ogden infielder Raymond Gil started the seventh inning with a solo home run and a Kenny Oyama RBI single helped the Raptors to four runs, cutting the deficit to 8-7. But the rally stopped there on a groundout with runners on second and third, and Ogden could get no closer.

Jack Cone hit 4 for 5 with a double and scored two runs from the leadoff spot for Ogden. Howard and Landen Barns each hit 2 for 4 and Herron drove in three runs.

Dinesen had four RBIs for the home team. Ogden outhit Glacier 13-8.
