Prep roundup: Blackmer strikes out 18 but Box Elder softball falls in 2-1 duel

BOUNTIFUL — Box Elder High softball’s Kennadie Blackmer struck out 18 batters but Bountiful scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 2-1, walk-off win in extra innings Friday to take sole possession of first place in Region 5 and hand the Bees their first loss of the season.
Kailee Hall batted 2 for 4 with a double for Box Elder (12-1, 4-1 Region 5). Jenna Marble hit a single and scored the Bees’ lone run on a wild pitch. Blackmer took the hard-luck loss, allowing three hits and one walk in 8 1/3 innings.
Ella Miller struck out 14 over nine complete innings for Bountiful (10-1, 5-0), allowing three hits and issuing three walks.
WEST FIELD 11, MOUNTAIN CREST 7
TAYLOR — West Field scored seven runs in the third inning to take a 9-2 lead in a region win over Mountain Crest (4-8, 0-4 Region 11).
Clair Nessen batted 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs for West Field (5-2, 2-1). Ella Doxey and Addi Gibson each hit an RBI triple while Rylee Andreasen and Kam Bell each hit an RBI double. Brinklee Hadley got the win with one hit and three strikeouts over 1 1/3 innings.
WEBER 11, ROY 6
PLEASANT VIEW — Roy scored two runs to take a 6-5 lead in the fourth inning, then Weber responded with three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth for the win.
Aliya Rhees batted 3 for 4 with two home runs, a triple and six RBIs for Weber (2-6). Morgan Dixon went 3 for 4 with two triples and drove in two. Emery Hayes had two hits and two RBIs, and got the win with two earned runs and four strikeouts in four innings of relief.
Megan Johnson and Quincy Johnson each batted 2 for 4 for Roy (0-7), with Megan Johnson driving in two. Sydney Palmer hit an RBI single.
MORGAN 12, OGDEN 2
MORGAN — Morgan led 5-2 after the second inning and stacked on seven more runs in the fourth inning to trigger the run rule and beat Ogden.
Kaiya Peterson batted 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs for Morgan (7-3, 1-1 Region 13). Eva Birkeland batted 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Kassidy Wardell drove in three with a single. Callie Averett got the win with one hit and five strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings.
Aracely DeLeon batted 2 for 3 for Ogden (4-6, 1-1). Baelee Ulm drove in one run and scored one run.
SOUTH SUMMIT 21, BEN LOMOND 0
OGDEN — McKynzee Anderson and Ivy Gallegos got the Scots’ two hits as Ben Lomond (0-4, 0-3 Region 13) fell at home to South Summit (10-8, 1-2).
FARMINGTON 9, PLEASANT GROVE 4
FARMINGTON — Farmington scored eight runs in the sixth inning to beat Pleasant Grove.
Morgan Rogers homered and drove in four runs for Farmington (6-3). Ruby Andrus batted 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs. Brooklyn Wright went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in one. Lill Topham got the win with one run and three hits over two relief innings.

ROY 28, BEN LOMOND 10
ROY — Roy answered a 3-0 Ben Lomond lead in the top of the first inning with 22 runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Cache Summers batted 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for Roy (7-2). James Cochran, Tristan Young and Kaiden Bates had two singles and three RBIs. Carson Bachman hit a two-run double and Jack Sorensen hit an RBI double. Bates got the win with three earned runs and three strikeouts over two innings.
Cade Becraft hit two home runs and drove in six for Ben Lomond (1-7). Kale Ha’o batted 2 for 3 and drove in two.
BONNEVILLE 14, OGDEN 5
OGDEN — Bonneville scored five runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-2 lead in a win at Ogden.
Jet Hirschi batted 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and two RBIs for Bonneville (6-5). Paden Toula batted 3 for 4 with a double and drove in two. Jaygen Noble, Ryker Allen and Hudson Taylor each had two hits with Taylor driving in three. Taylor got the win with three earned runs and six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.
Lucas Bushell hit a two-run double for Ogden (0-9) and Jonah Holmes added a double. Dominic Piper and Kash Thompson each had two hits.

SMITHFIELD — Kanyon Pratt pitched a four-hit shutout and batted 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs as West Field won at Sky View (4-8, 3-2 Region 11) in six innings.
Tyce Abbott and Boston Kap each had two hits and one RBI for West Field (6-4, 3-1). Andrew Hurst went 2 for 3. Conner Miles drove in two and scored one run.
NORTHRIDGE 7, GREEN CANYON 6
LAYTON — Northridge led 7-4 after five innings and held off a Green Canyon seventh-inning rally for a home win.
Parker Jeppson batted 3 for 4 and drove in two for Northridge (8-3). Kam Shirreffs, Ryan Small and Mick Whitaker each hit two singles and combined for four RBIs. Freshman Trevin Redd got the win with two earned runs and one strikeout over five innings.
ST. JOHN BOSCO-CA 4, LAYTON 3
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Layton scored three runs on zero hits in the fifth inning to tie the game, then saw St. John Bosco (California) plate the winning run in the sixth.
Zane Morgan, Ethan Clark and Austin Pritchett each scored a run for Layton (0-7). Nik Belaczyc drove in one with a sacrifice.

AMERICAN FORK — Davis took a 1-0 lead but gave up eight runs in the second inning and seven in the second in a loss at American Fork.
Brody McGuire hit an RBI single to drive in Owen Talbot for Davis (5-4). Jaxon Marble and Wally Grant each added a single.
MTN CREST 3, BEAR RIVER 1
HYRUM — Bear River took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, then gave up three runs in the sixth inning in a region loss at Mountain Crest (7-3, 2-1 Region 11).
Holden Potter hit a double for Bear River (6-5, 3-3) and scored on an Ethan Higgs sacrifice.

OGDEN — Jace Rodriguez netted a brace, including the golden goal in extra time, as Ogden bested Morgan.

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber scored twice after the break to grab a region win over Syracuse.
