Prep roundup: Bear River outlasts West Field in extra-inning softball affair

TAYLOR — West Field High softball scored three runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings, then Bear River responded with four runs in the eighth for a 9-6 region win Friday.

Bella Douglas batted 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs for Bear River (9-1, 2-0 Region 11). Kendyl Archibald batted 2 for 3 with a double and drove in one. Aubree Fry hit an RBI triple. Kate Wilson pitched a complete game with eight hits and 12 strikeouts.

Ayzlee Sessions batted 4 for 5 and scored two runs for West Field (2-1, 1-1). Rylee Andreasen went 2 for 4 and drove in one. Ella Doxey drove in three without a hit.

MORGAN 15, ROY 0

ROY — Morgan scored 12 runs in the second inning in a three-inning win at Roy.

Lexi Hardman batted 3 for 3 with one RBI for Morgan (6-2). Joesi Kelly went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. Kaiya Peterson, Callie Averett and Kaeson Ervin each hit two singles and combined for six RBIs. Averett earned the win with two hits and four strikeouts.

Adrian Good and Jaylan Eddy got hits for Roy (0-4).

BOX ELDER 6, GRANTSVILLE 3

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder scored four runs in the fifth inning to beat Grantsville.

Kennadie Blackmer batted 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and earned the win with a complete game, striking out 11 for Box Elder (9-0). Kailee Hall went 3 for 4 with a double and drove in two.

FARMINGTON 29, CORNER CANYON 4

DRAPER — Farmington scored 13 runs in the fifth inning to trigger the run rule in a win at Corner Canyon.

Lola Ogzewalla batted 4 for 4 with two triples, a double and six RBIs for Farmington (3-3). Sophia Strong and Brooklyn Wright each went 3 for 5 with a home run. Strong had seven RBIs and Wright drove in three. Ruby Andrus batted 4 for 6 with five RBIs.

COPPER HILLS 13, SYRACUSE 5

WEST JORDAN — Jazmine Prathan batted 4 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs but Syracuse fell at Copper Hills.

Grace Thomas, Hannah Reed and Olivia Brown each hit a single for Syracuse (7-2).

HERRIMAN 8, FREMONT 6

PLAIN CITY — Fremont scored two runs in the seventh inning but the rally came up short in a home loss to Herriman.

Jessica Broadbent batted 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for Fremont (1-8). Savannah Palmatier went 3 for 4. Brooklyn Himelright batted 2 for 4 with a double.

UNION 19, BEN LOMOND 0

OGDEN — Ben Lomond (0-1, 0-1 Region 13) was on the wrong end of a perfect game in a four-inning region loss to Union (9-4, 1-0).

ROY 11, OGDEN 1

ROY — Roy scored five runs in the fifth inning to take control in a win over Ogden.

Jack Sorensen batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Roy (2-2). James Cochran and Aiden Gallegos each hit an RBI double. Connor Robinson got the win with two hits and 10 strikeouts over five innings.

Easton Green, Xavier Aldous and Kash Thompson each got a hit for Ogden (0-6). Dominic Piper scored the lone Tigers run.

NORTHRIDGE 12, WEBER 3

PLEASANT VIEW — Northridge led 8-0 after four innings in a win at Weber.

Ryan Small batted 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs for Northridge (5-3). Parker Jeppson went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in four. Jon Olsen hit an RBI double. Freshman Trevin Redd earned the win with two strikeouts and one earned run over five innings.

Eastyn Barker batted 3 for 4 and drove in one for Weber (0-5). Caden Lindholm and Ridge Troman each hit a double.

FREMONT 5, COPPER HILLS 3 (9)

WEST JORDAN — Fremont scored twice in the ninth inning for a comeback, extra-innings win at Copper Hills.

Brant Koford batted 2 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs and was hit by a pitch twice for Fremont (4-2). Jace Hadley went 2 for 5 with a double. Chase Jones and Tyson Grieve each hit two singles. Tad Grange earned the win with one hit and two strikeouts in two relief innings.

BONNEVILLE 9, WEST 3

SALT LAKE CITY — Bonneville plated five runners in the third inning to turn around a 2-1 deficit in a win at West.

Jaygen Noble batted 2 for 3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for Bonneville (4-5). Paden Toula had two hits and drove in two. Jet Hirschi and Ryker Allen each hit an RBI double. Allen earned the win with six hits and four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.

BEN LOMOND 5, NORTH SUMMIT 2

OGDEN — Ben Lomond took a 2-1 lead in the third inning then added three insurance runs in the fourth to down North Summit and pick up its first win of the season.

Kade Becraft batted 2 for 4 and drove in two for Ben Lomond (1-4). Kayden Bingham hit a three-run double. Kaysen Reeves hit a double and pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and striking out four.

BEAR RIVER 1, LOGAN 0

GARLAND — Brooks Drollinger drove in the only run in the sixth inning as Bear River beat Logan (0-7, 0-2 Region 11).

Drollinger hit two doubles for Bear River (4-4, 1-1) and Dallin Rice added a double.

MORGAN 15, KEARNS 1

MORGAN — Morgan put the game out of reach with eight runs in the fourth to run-rule Kearns.

Luke Bauerle and Lincoln Gilson each batted 3 for 3 to pace Morgan (6-2). Bauerle hit a double and drove five while Gilson drove in two. Camron Talbot, Owen Gilson and George Jensen each had two hits and combined for three RBIs. Talbot earned the win with four hits and three strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings.

RIDGELINE 11, WEST FIELD 0

TAYLOR — Tyce Abbott hit a double and Brady Penland got the other hit as West Field (3-4, 1-2 Region 11) fell at home to Ridgeline (9-1, 3-0).

ROOSEVELT — Xavier Peregrina kept a clean sheet and Ogden scored six goals after halftime in a region win at Union (5-2, 1-1 Region 13).

Harrison Hoskins had two goals and two assists for Ogden (7-0, 3-0 Region 13). Gerardo Esquivel added two goals and one assist. Adam Jenks and Jace Rodriguez each netted a brace. Luis Velasco assisted three goals while Sam Galbraith and Parley Gladwell added one assist apiece.

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber used four sets to down Logan 20-25, 25-9, 25-11, 25-17.

Paxton Lighthall led Weber (7-6) with 11 kills and three blocks. Bridger Smith added 14 kills. Miles Erickson served five aces and Dahlin Hurd had 18 digs.

SYRACUSE AT PG TOURNAMENT

Syracuse went 3-0 at the Pleasant Grove High tournament with three sweeps. The Titans beat Mountain View (25-18, 25-17), Orem (25-23, 26-24) and Corner Canyon (25-23, 28-26).
