Prep roundup: Morgan baseball wins 3 times in St. George; Roy soccer tops West Field

KANAB — After giving up three runs in the top of the fourth inning to fall behind 4-2, Morgan High baseball responded with four runs in the bottom half for a 6-4 win over Beaver on Friday in Kanab High’s Chuckwagon Tournament.

Lincoln Gilson hit a three-run home run for Morgan (3-1) and Tyson Talbot hit a solo shot. Luke Bauerle batted 2 for 2 and scored twice. Beck Sheffield earned the win by allowing one hit, one walk and two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

MORGAN 7, MANTI 2

KANAB — Morgan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and cruised to a win over Manti.

Luke Bauerle batted 4 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored to lead Morgan. George Jensen and Kanyon Lionelli each went 2 for 4, with Jensen driving in one. Cooper Stuart pitched a complete game with three hits, two strikeouts and four walks.

BONNEVILLE 11, DUCHESNE 1

MESQUITE — Bonneville scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to trigger the run rule in a win over Duchesne at the Cactus Classic in Mesquite.

Jet Hirschi batted 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for Bonneville (1-1). Wade Larsen batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Paden Toula and Hudson Taylor each hit a double.

JUAB 7, OGDEN 0

WASHINGTON — Kash Thompson, Lucas Bushell and Rodrigo Torres got the three Ogden (0-2) hits in a shutout loss to Juab in the Crimson Cliffs Classic.

MORGAN 5, KANAB 2

KANAB — Morgan scored four runs in the fifth inning to build a 5-0 lead in a Thursday win at Kanab’s tournament.

George Jensen hit a two-run home run for Morgan. Luke Bauerle hit a double and Owen Gilson added an RBI single. Camron Talbot pitched five innings with one hit and eight strikeouts.

SNOW CANYON 8, SYRACUSE 5

ST. GEORGE — Syracuse led 3-0 in the third inning then gave up eight straight runs in a loss at Snow Canyon in the B-Elite Performance Classic on Thursday.

Caleb Wilson batted 4 for 4 and drove in two for Syracuse (0-1). Dom Johnatakis hit an RBI double and Easton Hamblin added two hits.

TAYLOR — Colby Frokjer kept a clean sheet and Sam Bischoff scored the game’s lone goal as Roy (1-2) won at West Field (2-1).

ST. GEORGE — Justin Daniels had a goal and an assist to lead Fremont past Skyline in a game played at Desert Hills High.

Dylan Bruce scored for Fremont (2-0) on a Daniels corner kick.

FREMONT 3, HERRIMAN 2 (2OT)

ST. GEORGE — Keaton Lane scored the golden goal on a Braxton Denkers assist in the second session of extra time to lift Fremont to a win over Herriman in a match played at Desert Hills High.

Daniel Galvan and Justin Daniels each added one goal for Fremont. Lane and Luke Devries tallied assists.

WEBER 3, OLYMPUS 2

PLEASANT VIEW — Brighton Burrup scored in the 72nd minute to lift Weber to a win over Olympus.

Carter Archuleta and Jack Hammons also netted for Weber (3-0). Mavrick Baker tallied one assist.

HERRIMAN 2, SYRACUSE 1 (2OT)

ST. GEORGE — Syracuse took its second loss Friday in the second period of extra time.

Wyatt Affleck scored for Syracuse (1-1) on a penalty kick.

Kennadie Blackmer batted 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI for Box Elder (4-0). Izabel Mason went 2 for 3 and drove in two.

ST. GEORGE — Box Elder jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Manti batted in a tournament run-rule win.

Kennadie Blackmer batted 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs and earned the win with three innings pitched for Box Elder. Jenna Marble batted 1 for 2 and drove in three.

BOX ELDER 12, GREEN CANYON 0

ST. GEORGE — Box Elder scored seven runs in the third inning to take a 10-0 lead in a win over Green Canyon.

Brooke Richards batted 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs for Box Elder. Kailee Hall and Lucy Griffin each hit a double and combined for five RBIs. Lucy Braegger earned the win with three hits and eight strikeouts.
