Prep roundup: Syracuse tops Ogden in boys volleyball; West Field soccer wins again

SYRACUSE — Syracuse High boys volleyball bested Ogden in four sets (25-15, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16) during Thursday’s prep action.
Chase Barrett paced Syracuse (2-0) with 22 kills, 21 digs, two aces and two blocks. Adam Martin added 18 digs and three blocks. Talon Morris dished 45 assists.
Keen Crowther led Ogden (1-1) with 14 kills, 22 digs and one ace. Kos Crowther tallied 18 digs and served two aces. Adam Ballard added 11 kills, three digs and one ace.
WEBER 3, RIDGELINE 2
PLEASANT VIEW — Weber topped Ridgeline 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 18-25, 15-13.
Miles Erickson led Weber (2-0) with 11 kills and three aces. Jake Ahlmer tallied 31 assists.
DAVIS 3, CLEARFIELD 0
KAYSVILLE — Davis swept Clearfield 25-20, 25-23, 26-24.
Luke McKnight tallied 11 digs and four aces for Davis (1-1). Chase Valentine had 11 kills and Siona Faeamani dished 13 assists.

ROOSEVELT — Utah Military Academy-Hill Field traveled to Union for its season opener Wednesday, took a loss and got caught in a snowstorm that saw the Thunderbirds return home early Thursday morning.

Jaygen Noble batted 2 for 3 and drove in two for Bonneville (0-1). Wade Larsen hit an RBI single and Jet Hirschi added a hit and scored two runs.

HURRICANE — Northridge gave up six runs in the fourth inning and the winning run in the fifth in a loss to Union in the Hurricane High Invitational.
Tyler Martin batted 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs for Northridge (0-1). Cooper Tubbs went 2 for 2 and Ryan Small hit an RBI single.
GIRLS LACROSSE

LAYTON — Sarah Larsen scored four goals and Northridge outdistanced Uintah 6-1 in the second half for a season-opening win Thursday.
Elia Ransom and Sadie Carter each netted twice for Northridge (1-0).
