Prep roundup: Pratt’s one-hitter lifts West Field baseball; Fremont soccer tallies 3 goals

TAYLOR — Kanyon Pratt’s complete-game one-hitter led West Field High baseball over Stansbury 2-1 at home for the program’s first-ever win Wednesday.
The Longhorns (1-0) notched two runs in the second inning and let just one slip during the fourth.

ROY — Roy took a 3-0 lead in the third but saw that turn into a home loss
Tristan Young, Connor Robinson and Cache Summers each tallied two hits for Roy (0-1), with Young doubling. Robinson threw the first four innings, striking out four and allowing one run on four hits

ST. GEORGE — Fremont tallied three goals and defeated Taylorsville on the road Wednesday to begin the season in the win column.
Carson VanBeekum, assisted by Cam Graves, headed in the first goal soon after the Silverwolves (1-0) exited the first half locked at 1-1. Braxton Denkers and Justin Daniels found the net twice more in the second half.

KAYSVILLE — Kyle Livermore scored a first-half goal, assisted by Ryker Lorde, to lift Davis (2-0) over Roy (0-2) on Wednesday.
WEBER 2, SKY VIEW 0
PLEASANT VIEW — Weber claimed its first win of the season in shutout fashion 2-0 over Sky View at home Wednesday.
Beckham Dean handed the Warriors (1-1) a one-goal lead before halftime and Jayce Rydalch plugged a second goal in the back half. Maverick Baker assisted both goals, and Boston Smith recorded the shutout in goal.
COPPER HILLS 2, LAYTON 1 (OT)
LAYTON — Rudy Jensen scored on a penalty kick in the second half but Layton (0-1) surrendered a golden goal in the 95th minute to fall at home Tuesday.

WEST FIELD 3, ROY 1
TAYLOR — Coulter Shakespear racked up 12 kills in leading West Field over Roy in four sets 25-20, 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 at home Wednesday.
The Longhorns (2-0) were supported by Owen Orrock (24 set assists, six blocks), Lucas Chugg (eight assists), Kayden Bagley (five digs), Owen Orrock (three aces) and Tate Howell (six blocks).
LAYTON 3, NORTHRIDGE 0
LAYTON — Layton swept Northridge 25-14, 25-19, 25-11.
Sam Pizarro Guiral had 12 kills for Layton (1-0). Isaac Thompson totaled eight blocks, Ben Peterson had 12 assists and three aces, and Andy Page pitched in 10 digs.
Northridge (0-2) did not report stats.
BOX ELDER 3, RIDGELINE 1
BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder added a second consecutive win, defeating Ridgeline in four sets 25-22, 27-25, 25-19, 27-25 Wednesday at home.
Dallin McKee led the Bees (2-0) with 21 assists, 10 kills and eight blocks. Carter Buchanan racked up 17 kills.

BRIGHAM CITY — Brant Blacker totaled 20 kills and Box Elder outlasted Sky View in the season-opener Tuesday by scores of 25-14, 21-25, 27-25, 23-25, 15-12.
Carter Buchanan added 14 kills.

KAYSVILLE — Davis fell in straight sets 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 to Bountiful on Tuesday.
Davis (0-1) got 11 kills from Chase Valentine, Jack Bennett had 17 assists and two blocks, and Luke McKnight added 12 digs.
MORGAN 3, NORTH SANPETE 0
COALVILLE — Madden Bell and Kevin Wangsgard each totaled 11 kills as Morgan swept North Sanpete 27-25, 25-15, 26-24 on Tuesday.
Jack Komenda pitched in seven kills, 13 digs and three aces. Caleb Stephens had 28 assists.
