BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder scored twice in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead, but gave up runs in the fourth and fifth innings in a home loss to Mountain Crest.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Morgan scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning but the rally wasn’t enough as the Trojans dropped their season-opening game Monday at Cedar Valley.

SYRACUSE — Syracuse outlasted Clearfield in five sets 23-25, 25-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12.

Chase Barrett led Syracuse (1-0) with 15 kills, 15 digs, two blocks, and two aces. Talon Morris added 37 assists. Gabe Meredith added 13 kills and Adam Martin had 12.
