Six Northern Utah programs landed top 10 spots across the 6A/5A boys and girls state championship brackets released Saturday morning. Eight teams received first-round byes.

All first and second-round games will be contested at home sites from Feb. 19-21 (boys) and Feb. 18-20 (girls). All home-site games are slated for 7 p.m. tipoffs.

In 6A boys, four teams – Davis, Layton, Weber and Syracuse – received first-round byes; Fremont travels to American Fork for a chance at Davis in the second round. In 5A boys, Northridge and Bonneville received first-round bids; Clearfield and Box Elder missed the cut.

In 6A girls, four teams – Syracuse, Davis, Fremont, and Weber – received first-round byes; Layton travels to Pleasant Grove for a chance at Syracuse in the second round (Feb. 20). In 5A girls, Clearfield received a first-round bye and three teams – Bonneville, Northridge and Roy – must clear first-round contests to keep their ships afloat.

All postseason games onward (quarterfinals from Feb. 24-25, semifinals from Feb. 26, and finals from Feb. 27-28) are held at the Jon M. Huntsman Center at the University of Utah.

FIRST ROUND (Feb. 19): No. 18 Fremont (5-18) at No. 15 American Fork (7-16).

SECOND ROUND (Feb. 21): No. 9 Weber (14-9) at No. 8 Lehi (13-9); No. 2 Davis (20-3) vs. Winner of No. 18 Fremont/No. 15 American Fork; No. 14 Syracuse (11-12) at No. 3 Layton (19-4).

5A PLAYOFF

FIRST ROUND (Feb. 19): No. 21 Northridge (9-14) at No. 12 Woods Cross (13-10); No. 22 Bonneville (9-14) at No. 11 Viewmont (14-10); Clearfield and Box Elder missed the cut.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

6A PLAYOFF

FIRST ROUND (Feb. 18): No. 18 Layton (2-20) at No. 15 Pleasant Grove (5-15).
