Incoming freshmen are now in the final signing period, from Feb. 5 to Feb. 7, to sign letters of intent with schools making scholarships or alternative offers to recruits. Once an agreement is signed, athletes must request an official waiver if they wish to reopen their recruitment.

The recent weekend included Roy standout Robert Young’s commitment to Idaho State. During his senior season, the Standard-Examiner All-Area Football Co-Player of the Year produced 2,340 all-purpose yards and 35 touchdowns.

Weber linebacker Tyler Payne (BYU) and Layton Christian athlete Iverson Report (Utah State) currently rest within the state’s top 30-plus prospects evaluated by 247Sports. Weber wideout Ian Elmore, and St. Joseph wideout Declan Yarosik with teammate and kicker Daniel Fontes, are expected to land locally with Weber State. Syracuse offensive tackle Ty Hunter signed at Weber State in December’s early period, while Syracuse defensive lineman Hoyt Pula inked with WSU on Wednesday.

BYU transfer linebacker Sione Moa (Weber) is headed for Weber State after two seasons in Provo and another at Utah State. Moa’s brother, Aisea, also opted for the portal this offseason and is bound for Michigan State with two years of eligibility.

Brevin Hamblin (Syracuse) is on his way to Utah State after two years at Utah Tech. DJ Mayes (Syracuse) is also headed to USU after one season at New Mexico.
