Prep roundup: Rhees drives in 5 for Weber softball; Davis baseball wins big to open region

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber High softball rallied with six runs in the sixth inning to take a 10-7 lead on the way to a 10-8 home win Tuesday over Layton.
Aliya Rhees batted 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and five RBIs for Weber (3-6, 1-0 Region 1). Raegan Blaisdell went 2 for 3 with a double and drove in two. Gabby Montgomery batted 3 for 4 and drove in one. Emery Hayes got the win with seven hits and one strikeout over five innings.
Audrina Beeson batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Layton (0-4, 0-1). Olivia Woodall hit an RBI double and Macie Clark added a double.
FREMONT 17, FARMINGTON 9
PLAIN CITY — Fremont scored multiple runs in all six innings in a region win over Farmington.
Saige Steele batted 4 for 5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs for Fremont (3-10, 1-0 Region 1). Kenadee Dabb went 2 for 2 with a home run and four RBIs. Savannah Palmatier hit 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Jessica Broadbent had two hits and three RBIs. Adee Johnsen got the win with six earned runs and eight strikeouts in a complete game.
Kiley Gazafy batted 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs for Farmington (6-4, 0-1). Brooklyn Wright hit a solo homer. Sophia Strong went 2 for 4 with one RBI.
BOX ELDER 19, WOODS CROSS 0
WOODS CROSS — Box Elder scored 14 runs before Woods Cross (3-6, 2-5 Region 5) batted in a three-inning region road shutout.
Lucy Braegger got the win for Box Elder (13-1, 5-1) with no hits and three strikeouts over two innings. Alexis Hales batted 3 for 3 with a triple, a double and drove in four. Kennadie Blackmer hit a three-run homer. Brooke Richards and Katelyn Oki each doubled and singled while driving in two. Lucy Griffin added a two-run double.
CLEARFIELD 18, VIEWMONT 4
BOUNTIFUL — Clearfield scored five runs in the fifth inning and six in the seventh for a region win at Viewmont (5-7, 2-3 Region 5).
Alexandria Bingham and Lyla Leonhardt each batted 3 for 5 with a double for Clearfield (8-4, 5-1). Bingham drove in three and Leonhardt one. Skylar Davis went 3 for 4 with one RBI. Emma Dishongh batted 2 for 4 with a double. Jenna Lloyd had two hits and an RBI, and pitched a complete game with three earned runs and eight strikeouts.
NORTHRIDGE 7, ROY 5
ROY — Northridge took a 3-1 lead after one inning and made it hold up in a region win at Roy.
Kaylee Shirreffs batted 4 for 4 with two triples, two runs scored and one RBI for Northridge (5-6, 2-3 Region 5). Kiersten Carbone batted 2 for 3 and drove in one. Braylynn McClellan added a double. Shirreffs got the win with four earned runs and four strikeouts over six innings.
Lorelai Sherrod batted 3 for 4 and drove in one for Roy (0-8, 0-6). Sydney Palmer went 2 for 3 with a double. Siara Martinez added two hits.

SMITHFIELD — West Field scored six runs in the third inning and added three in the sixth for a region win at Sky View (5-10, 1-4 Region 11).
Ella Doxey batted 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for West Field (6-2, 3-1). Addi Gibson went 3 for 4 with a double and drove in four. Ayzlee Sessions hit a two-run double. Brinklee Hadley and Kam Bell each had two hits. Cambree Pierson got the win with five earned runs and two strikeouts over four innings.
BEAR RIVER 7, RIDGELINE 6
MILLVILLE — Bear River scored twice in the sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead and quashed a Ridgeline (9-7, 4-3 Region 11) rally to stay unbeaten in region play.
Aubree Fry batted 2 for 2 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Bear River (15-1, 7-0 Region 11). Londyn Gamble went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in three. Kendyl Archibald and Allie Aoki each added a hit. Kate Wilson pitched a complete game with nine hits, four earned runs and seven strikeouts for the win.
MORGAN 24, SOUTH SUMMIT 11
KAMAS — After a big first inning saw Morgan trail 9-8, the Trojans outscored South Summit (10-9, 1-3 Region 13) 16-2 the rest of the way in a five-inning region road win.
Gwen Rickard batted 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and six RBIs for Morgan (8-3, 2-1). Eva Birkeland went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and drove in four. Lexi Hardman and Kaiya Peterson each had four hits. Peterson doubled twice and drove in three. Joesi Kelly added two doubles and a single. Callie Averett got the win with four earned runs and five strikeouts.
BOUNTIFUL 6, BONNEVILLE 1
BOUNTIFUL — Bonneville scored in the top of the seventh inning in a region loss at Bountiful (11-1, 6-0 Region 5).
Ellie Summer hit a solo home run for Bonneville (3-10, 1-4). Peyton Johnson got the other Lakers hit.
GRANTSVILLE 19, OGDEN 2
OGDEN — Ogden scored two runs in the third inning but it wasn’t enough to stave off the run rule in a loss to Grantsville (8-6, 3-0 Region 13).
Jill Wood hit a single and drove in a run for Ogden (4-8, 1-2). Mia Sugimoto hit a single and scored a run.

SYRACUSE — Davis scored 11 runs in the third inning in a four-inning win at Syracuse.
Brody McGuire hit a three-run home run for Davis (7-4, 1-0 Region 1). Jaxon Marble batted 3 for 4 and drove in three. Owen Talbot and Wally Grant each batted 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Tyson Baggett added a two-run double. Grant got the win with two hits and four strikeouts over three innings.
Calder Millard batted 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI for Syracuse (2-6, 0-1). Kysen Gallegos and Dom Johnatakis each hit a single.

PLAIN CITY — Chase Jones batted 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs, and earned the win on the mound with two earned runs and seven strikeouts in a five-inning complete game, to lead Fremont past Farmington (2-9, 0-1 Region 1).
Owen Simpkins hit a triple, a double and drove in two for Fremont (8-3, 1-0). Brant Koford and Kasen Pearson each went 2 for 3, with Koford hitting a double. Tyson Grieve drove in three with one single. Fremont scored five runs in the fifth inning to trigger the run rule
LAYTON 7, WEBER 1
PLEASANT VIEW — Weber took a 1-0 lead after one inning but Layton scored seven unanswered runs for a region road win.
Caleb Jackson hit a two-run home run for Layton (2-8, 1-0 Region 1). Carter Schoenfeld batted 2 for 4 with a double. Andres Cedeno and Caleb Jackson each hit a two-run single. Nik Bielaczyc pitched a complete game with two hits and six strikeouts in the win.
Preston Gerritsen hit a double for Weber (1-8, 0-1). Eastyn Barker hit a single and scored on a Riley Morris sacrifice.
OGDEN 11, SOUTH SUMMIT 2
OGDEN — Easton Green and Jonah Holmes each batted 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Ogden past South Summit (5-9, 2-3 Region 13) for the Tigers’ first win of the season.
Rodrigo Torres went 4 for 4 with three doubles and drove in four for Ogden (1-14, 1-4). Kash Thompson batted 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. Xavier Aldous added two hits. Lucas Bushell got the win with four hits and eight strikeouts over six innings.

MORGAN — Morgan gave up eight runs in the top of the first inning in a region loss to Union (13-4, 3-0 Region 13).
Kanyon Leonelli and Easton Venz got the only two hits for Morgan (12-4, 4-1). Leonelli scored the lone Trojan run.

GRANTSVILLE — Ben Lomond was held to two hits in a five-inning loss at Grantsville (5-7, 3-0 Region 13).
Kaysen Reeves and Cade Becraft each hit a single for Ben Lomond (1-10, 0-5). Kale Ha’o reached base on a walk.

GARLAND — Davis took a 4-0 lead in the top of the second and held off Bear River for a road win Monday.
Kaleb Weaver batted 2 for 4 with a triple, a double and an RBI for Davis (6-4). Owen Talbot added a triple and a single and drove in one. Tyson Baggett went 2 for 3 with a double and drove in two. Cayman Sanchez added a double. Lincoln Green got the win with two hits and two strikeouts over three innings.
Nick Oliverson batted 2 for 3 with a double and drove in one for Bear River (7-6). Michael Sanchez went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Thomas Summers added a hit.

SPANISH FORK — Morgan led 7-3 after four innings, then scored six runs in the fifth in a win at American Leadership on Monday.
Owen Gilson hit a three-run homer for Morgan (12-3). Easton Venz batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Beck Sheffield went 2 for 5 with a triple and four RBIs. Kanyon Lionelli hit a triple and a single and drove in one. George Jensen earned the win with three hits, one earned run and four strikeouts over three innings.

Chase Barrett led Syracuse (11-3, 3-0 Region 1) with 17 kills and 13 digs. Ian Sprague served two aces and added 11 digs. Kayl Beutler had four blocks and Talon Morris tallied 33 assists.
Chase Valentine paced Davis (5-4, 2-1) with 15 kills, two aces and nine digs. Gavin Morrell and Jackson Kuma each tallied four blocks while Jack Bennett dished out 15 assists.
