Ogden's Kate Pulley (8) sidesteps Fremont's Katelyn Meyerhoffer (22) in a girls soccer match Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, in Plain City.

CEDAR CITY — The window for the 3A girls soccer state title narrowed to four teams Monday, with No. 6 seed Ogden shutting out No. 3 Canyon View 7-0 in a decisive quarterfinal round rescheduled from Saturday.

With Monday’s victory, the defending state champion Tigers (13-7) look ahead to No. 2 Manti (18-1) in the semifinals Thursday at Zions Bank Stadium at 12:30 p.m. Unbeaten, top-seed Judge Memorial Catholic (16-0) opens the semifinal round vs. No. 4 Morgan (14-5) at 10 a.m.

Similar to its second-round shutout vs. Delta, Ogden (13-7) produced three unanswered goals in the first half before peppering the Falcons (15-4) with four more in the second half. Senior Kate Pulley’s hat trick fueled Ogden’s seven-goal run including scores by Elle Weston (2), Megan Beus (1) and Baelee Ulm (1).

Ogden now has six consecutive wins under its belt, including two shutouts to begin the postseason. A seventh win could very well place the Tigers next to Morgan in a state title rematch between the Region 11 co-champions Saturday morning at Zions Bank Stadium.

However, the Tigers must continue their latest success streak Thursday against a Region 12 champion Manti program and the state’s 8th-best score Taylie Micklesen (2.0 goals per match).

The Templars’ only loss this season came, interestingly enough, vs. Canyon View in a penalty shutout (2-2 draw) in late August. Despite a rocky start to the regular season, Ogden managed just one region loss at Morgan in a narrow 3-2 defeat in late September.
