Girls soccer playoffs: Morgan, St. Joseph advance; Ogden postponed to Monday
MORGAN — Punching its ticket to the final four, No. 4 Morgan High girls soccer put together a 5-0 shutout against No. 5 Carbon in Saturday’s quarterfinal round.
Finding the net thrice, Lacie Poll’s hat trick helped the Trojans (14-5) keep their postseason dreams alive. Kapree Charlton and Kendall Peterson each registered a goal along the way. Sky Bernardo and Maddie Fisher combined for the shutout in goal.
Morgan meets top seed Judge Memorial (16-0) in the semifinals Thursday, Oct. 24, at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.
Ogden quarterfinal moved to Monday
Upwards of 6 inches of snow forced Saturday’s 3A girls soccer quarterfinal between No. 6 Ogden and No. 3 Canyon View to be postponed to Monday, Oct. 21, in Cedar City. The match is set to kick at 1 p.m.
St. Joseph advances to 2A semifinal
In 2A action, the No. 5 St. Joseph girls soccer team found the net twice in the second half of a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Maeser Prep Academy in the quarterfinals Saturday in Lindon.
The Jayhawks (12-5) meet top seed American Heritage (15-3) in the semifinal round Thursday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.
