SYRACUSE — Sophie Martin tallied a goal and an assist to lead No. 4 Syracuse past No. 13 Herriman (11-8) in the 6A girls soccer state second round by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

Abby Affleck netted in the first half to give No. 4 Syracuse (15-3) a 1-0 lead at the break. Taylee Hughes added a goal and Jocee Eddy assisted two goals.

The Titans advance to host No. 5 Copper Hills (15-4) in the quarterfinals Thursday.

ST. GEORGE — No. 15 West Field was shut out in a season-ending loss at No. 2 Snow Canyon (15-2) in the 4A state second round. The Longhorns end their inaugural season with a 9-11 record.

SYRACUSE — Syracuse bested Layton in a marathon match. Set scores were 19-25, 25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 15-12.

Anabell Briggs led Syracuse (18-6, 7-0 Region 1) with 10 kills. Avery Ericksen, Miyah Lish, and Emily Kenison each served four aces, while Karlie Hamblin tallied 24 digs.

ST. JOSEPH 3, AM HERITAGE 0

OGDEN — St. Joseph swept American Heritage (10-15, 2-7 Region 17) by scores of 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.

Lizzie Randall paced St. Joseph (14-6, 9-1) with 13 kills and 13 assists. Ally Macaulay tallied 10 kills. Juliana Netherton added 18 assists and six kills. Mackenzie Hernandez had seven digs and served six aces.
