3A girls soccer playoff bracket: Morgan, Ogden snag 2nd-round home advantages

Morgan, Ogden and Ben Lomond earn first-round byes

All but four teams will play first-round matches in the 3A state tournament playoff bracket released by the UHSAA Wednesday morning.

Morgan, Ogden and Ben Lomond all received first-round byes and will begin their postseason runs in second-round matches set for Wednesday, Oct. 16, at home sites. Morgan, who is the No. 4 seed, and Ogden, who is at No. 6, shared the Region 13 championship.

Of the 18 teams in the bracket, 14 receive byes and seeds 15-18 contest first-round matches.

Two first-round matches are decided Saturday, with the winners advancing to play No. 1 Judge Memorial and No. 2 Manti in the second round. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, at home sites.

The 3A semifinal round (Thursday, Oct. 24) and the state championship final (Saturday, Oct. 26) will be played at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman.

Bracket seeding is determined by an RPI formula that factors winning percentage and strength of schedule.

SECOND ROUND (Wednesday, Oct. 16)

No. 13 Juab (6-12) at No. 4 Morgan (12-5)

No. 11 Delta (8-10) at No. 6 Ogden (11-7)

No. 14 Ben Lomond (3-11) at No. 3 Canyon View (14-3).

All matches are currently set for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
