Prep basketball: Layton boys wallop Clearfield; Fremont, Ogden, Syracuse girls take local wins
LAYTON — Layton High boys basketball ran out to a 46-14 halftime lead in a 87-33 win Tuesday night over Clearfield.
Sam Romer scored a game-high 20 points with two 3-pointers for Layton (2-0). Nic Anderson added 13 points with two treys. Chase Randall and Jonah Fullmer each added 11 points with Randall hitting three 3-pointers.
Jaxson Bishop led Clearfield (1-1) with 10 points and two 3-pointers. Hayden Parry tallied nine points and Bode Davis scored six.
FREMONT 74, BOUNTIFUL 70
PLAIN CITY — Fremont outscored Bountiful 36-28 after halftime for a comeback win.
Zach Masters led Fremont (2-1) with 15 points and two 3-pointers. Easton Duft added 14 points. Dylan Bruce, Cam Campbell and Zach Hancock each scored 10 points.
DAVIS 85, COPPER HILLS 46
WEST JORDAN — Coleman Atwater scored a game-high 23 points with four 3-pointers and four rebounds to lead Davis to a big win at Copper Hills.
Bode Sparrow added 17 points for Davis (1-0). JT Turley tallied 14 points with two treys. Croydon Christensen added six points and six rebounds. The Darts shot 56.6% (30 of 53) from the field.
BEAR RIVER 69, BOX ELDER 46
GARLAND — Kaser Thurgood led all scorers with 26 points on four 3-pointers to lead Bear River to a win over cross-county rival Box Elder.
Kash Avery added 15 points for Bear River (1-3) and Kidy Nelson scored eight points.
Cartier Buchanan led Box Elder (0-3) with 11 points. McKay Deem tallied 10 points with two 3-pointers. Ryan Jenson scored nine points on three treys.
RIDGELINE 63, WEBER 58
PLEASANT VIEW — Weber trailed 39-22 at the half and couldn’t complete the comeback in a home loss to Ridgeline.
Derik Bowden led all scorers with 16 points and three 3-pointers for Weber (0-2). Luke Bingham scored 12 points and Ben Olpin added 10.
KEARNS 56, BEN LOMOND 51
OGDEN — Kearns won the second half 30-23 to claim a road win at Ben Lomond.
Jaerdan Van Beekum led Ben Lomond (0-3) with 17 points on five 3-pointers, adding six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Deshawn Holland added 11 points and six assists. Zeb Whetton totaled 11 points and seven rebounds.
GREEN CANYON 68, MORGAN 67 (OT)
MORGAN — Morgan outscored Green Canyon 15-7 in the fourth quarter but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer in an overtime heartbreaker.
Jake Hansen and Bracken Saunders each scored 19 points for Morgan (3-1). Kolten Asay added 17 points.
ROCKWELL 90, ST. JOSEPH 62
EAGLE MOUNTAIN — St. Joseph led 41-40 at the half but Rockwell sped to a 50-21 advantage after the half.
Gavin Donovan led St. Joseph (2-1) with 25 points and Gavin Wolf scored 19.
JUDGE MEM 79, WEBER 72 (OT)
SALT LAKE CITY — Weber led 37-29 at the half but could not hold off Judge Memorial’s comeback in a road loss Monday.
Luke Bingham led all scorers with 32 points and two 3-pointers for Weber (0-2). Ryder Howe added 10 points with two treys. Thomas Packer and Derik Bowden each scored nine points and combined for four 3-pointers.

Ava Post led all scorers with 15 points and three 3-pointers for Fremont (2-0). Abby Christensen tallied 12 points and three treys. Sophie Valdez added nine points and two 3-pointers.
Baya Jimenez led Bonneville (0-2) with 12 points. Adisyn Stone scored 12 points while Charity McDonald and Mylie Miera each added five.
OGDEN 39, ST. JOSEPH 27
OGDEN — Ogden outscored St. Joseph 19-0 in the second quarter to turn a 10-6 deficit into a 25-10 halftime lead on the way to a road win.
Lily Gonzalez and Salote Tonga each scored nine points for Ogden (2-1). Gonzalez hit three 3-pointers. Macy Vine added six points.
Katelyn Martinez led all scorers with 15 points and two treys for St. Joseph (1-1). Eliza Berg added five points.

LAYTON — Syracuse built a 26-11 halftime lead to win at Northridge.
Aubri Stoker and Maylee Anderson each scored 12 points to lead Syracuse (1-0). Rachel McBride added nine points and Olivia Sorenson six.
Izabel Kap scored nine points for Northridge (0-2). Karlee Mayfield added eight points and Mae Stevenson scored six.

WEST VALLEY CITY — Weber used an 18-7 fourth quarter to pull away for a road win at Hunter.
Abby Sayer led all scorers with 20 points, adding four rebounds and three steals, for Weber (2-0). Rylee Jugler scored eight points and Bradey Schiffman pulled down six rebounds with a pair of timely 3-pointers.
FARMINGTON 61, CYPRUS 18
FARMINGTON — Emilie Figlioli hit five 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 17 points to lead Farmington to a big win over Cyprus.
Makelle Weber added 12 points for Farmington (3-0). Brecklyn Archibald and Olive Wayland each scored seven points.

CLEARFIELD — Izzy Wyaskett scored 19 points with five 3-pointers but Clearfield fell to Copper Hills at home.
