Prep basketball roundup: Weber, Roy, Davis girls win local matchups

PLEASANT VIEW — Rylee Jugler scored a game-high 18 points to lead Weber High girls basketball to a 61-31 home win over Box Elder on Friday night.

Abby Sayer tallied 12 points with two 3-pointers for Weber (1-0). Logyn Howell added 10 points.

Jocelyn Vranes led Box Elder (0-2) with 12 points. Brooklyn Burt added 10 points.

ROY 36, LAYTON 34

LAYTON — Roy ran out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter then held off a Layton comeback bid for a narrow road win.

Jerzee Hart led all scorers with 12 points for Roy (1-0) with eight rebounds and four steals. Jazzi Prieto scored seven points and Rihanna May added six.

Lindsey Thurgood tallied a double-double for Layton (0-2) with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Taya Pace tallied 10 points and Kamryn Flint scored eight.

DAVIS 39, NORTHRIDGE 33

KAYSVILLE — T’Maea Eteuati scored 15 points to lead Davis to a season-opening win over Northridge.

Emy Richards added six points for Davis (1-0) and Aubrey Simons added five.

Northridge (0-1) did not report stats.

OGDEN 63, GRAND COUNTY 31

MOAB — Ogden ran out to a 17-3 lead after one quarter and led 39-10 at the half in a big win at Grand County.

Salote Tonga and Macy Vine each scored 10 points for Ogden (1-1). Jill Wood added nine points.

SAN JUAN 33, BEN LOMOND 20

OGDEN — Payton Huff scored nine points and Aleia Huff added six but Ben Lomond (0-2) fell at home to San Juan.

SKYRIDGE 84, MORGAN 63

MORGAN — Skyridge outscored Morgan 25-5 in the second quarter and used that margin for the road win.

Eva Birkeland led all scorers with 29 points and four 3-pointers for Morgan (0-1). Makayla Williams and Kamry Wardell each scored seven points.

JUAN DIEGO 47, OGDEN 33

DRAPER — Ogden led 12-10 at the half but Juan Diego won the second half 37-21 on Thursday.

Salote Tonga led Ogden with 13 points and Taylor Duke added eight points. Megan Beus swiped 10 steals.

MORGAN 79, EMERY 40

MORGAN — Bracken Saunders scored 23 points with two dunks, a four-point play and swiped a nacho from a fan as Morgan grabbed a big win over Emery.

Jake Hansen added 16 points for Morgan (3-0). Kolten Asay and Nate Pace each tallied 10 points. The Trojans avenged their 28-point loss at Emery last season.

BOUNTIFUL 92, WEBER 86

BOUNTIFUL — Weber led 70-63 after three quarters but gave up 29 points in the final frame in a road loss at Bountiful.

Ryder Howe led Weber (0-1) with 24 points and three 3-pointers. Luke Bingham added 16 points, Brandon Crocket tallied 10 points and Ben Olpin scored nine.

ST. JOSEPH 86, MT. VERNON 18

MURRAY — St. Joseph outscored Mt. Vernon 42-4 in the first quarter in a road win Thursday

Gavin Donovan scored 25 points to lead St. Joseph (2-0). Gavin Wolf tallied 16 points, Chase Fridberg-Gerlich netted 13 points, Declan Yarosik had 10 points and Gunner Windsor added nine.

ALTA 71, FREMONT 47

SANDY — Easton Duft led Fremont with 13 points and the Silverwolves lost at Alta.

Will Ridgeway and Dylan Bruce each scored 11 points for Fremont (1-1).

LOGAN 75, BOX ELDER 69

BRIGHAM CITY — Mason Jeppsen scored 20 points with four 3-pointers but Box Elder fell at home to Logan.

Carter Buchanan tallied 16 points with two treys for Box Elder (0-2). Ryan Jenson added 14 points with four 3-pointers.

OREM 68, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 55

LAYTON — Layton Christian trailed 15-6 after the first quarter and could not recover in a home loss to Orem.

Tyrin Jones led Layton Christian (1-1) with 19 points. Samuel Obenjo scored 11 points and Albert Ntungicimpaye added six points.
