Prep roundup: Northern Utah 6A football teams bow out; Northridge girls volleyball finishes 4th

SKYRIDGE 49, DAVIS 32

LEHI — No. 7 Davis High football led 24-14 at the half and Tradon Bessinger threw for 434 yards but No. 2 Skyridge scored four consecutive second-half rushing touchdowns to win the 6A quarterfinal matchup.

Bessinger passed for three touchdowns for Davis (8-4). Bessinger found Tyson Baggett behind the defense and Baggett took the ball 62 yards to paydirt for a 7-0 lead. Jaxton Itaaehau added a 3-yard touchdown run and the Darts led 14-0 after one quarter.

Finn Garff kicked a 22-yard field goal and Bessinger connected with Bode Sparrow for a 6-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

After the four straight Skyridge (10-2) touchdowns made the score 42-24, Bessinger tossed a 32-yard scoring strike to Itaaehau for the final Davis points.

Bessinger completed 32 of 50 passes with three touchdowns and one interception. Itaaehau had 12 receptions for 136 yards. Sparrow had nine catches for 131 yards. Baggett had six grabs for 104 yards.

Bessinger was the Darts’ leading ground gainer with 16 yards, but lost 44 yards on sacks. Davis was held to minus-15 yards net rushing while Skyridge ran for 352 yards.

LONE PEAK 56, FREMONT 36

HIGHLAND — Slade Parker passed for one touchdown and rushed for another as No. 6 Fremont saw its season end in a 6A state quarterfinal loss at No. 3 Lone Peak.

Fremont opened the scoring as Manase Tuatagaloa tossed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Salesi Moa. Tuatagaloa was later injured and did not return to the game.

Cade Hadley scored on a 1-yard dive late in the first quarter and the Silverwolves led 14-13. Two Lone Peak (10-2) touchdowns made the score 27-14 at the half.

Moa took a pass from Calvin Cooper 26 yards to the endzone with 10:13 left in the third quarter, and a two-point conversion made the score 27-22. Fremont would get no closer.

Parker scored on a 3-yard run and tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Wolf with 1:29 left in the game.

The Silverwolves end the year with an 8-4 record.

CORNER CANYON 59, WEBER 38

DRAPER — Dyson Parker rushed for two touchdowns and added another score through the air but No. 9 Weber fell at No. 1 Corner Canyon (11-1) in the 6A state quarterfinals.

Parker scored on second-quarter runs of 19 and 7 yards for Weber. Crew Cacciacarne tossed a 73-yard scoring strike to Ian Elmore in the third quarter and a 10-yard touchdown pass to Parker in the fourth quarter. Caden Lindholm capped the scoring on a 1-yard plunge with less than a minute left in the game.

The Warriors end the season with a 7-5 record.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

6A STATE TOURNAMENT

OREM — No. 5 Syracuse won both its consolation matches Friday and finished in fifth place. The Titans finish the season with a 23-9 record.

No. 13 Weber finished in sixth place with two wins. The Warriors finish the year with a 16-16 mark. No. 8 Fremont was eliminated by Syracuse. The Silverwolves end the season with a 19-10 record.

No. 2 Lone Peak defeated No. 1 Pleasant Grove 3-1 to win the 6A title.

Syracuse 2, Fremont 0: 25-23, 25-19

Syracuse 2, Skyridge 1: 25-22, 21-25, 29-27

Weber 2, American Fork 0: 25-16, 26-24

Weber 2, Copper Hills 1: 25-22, 25-27, 25-17

5A STATE TOURNAMENT

OREM — No. 5 Northridge placed fourth with losses to Region 5 foes Bountiful and Woods Cross to finish its tournament Friday. The Knights finish the season with an 18-11 record after reaching the state semifinals.

No. 9 Clearfield placed eighth with a win and a loss Friday. The Falcons end the year with a 21-11 record. Region 5 placed second, third and fourth in the 2024 state tournament after No. 1 Bountiful fell in a surprise sweep at the hands of No. 2 Skyline in the 5A title match.

Woods Cross 2, Northridge 0: 25-15, 25-16

Clearfield 2, Springville 1: 22-25, 25-19, 25-16

Spanish Fork 2, Clearfield 0: 27-25, 28-26
