Prep basketball roundup: West Field boys get past Box Elder in overtime
BRIGHAM CITY — West Field High boys basketball took an overtime period 10-5 to win Saturday at Box Elder by a score of 63-58.
West Field (6-4) got 16 points from Daxton Laughter, 15 from Jaden Fowers and 13 from Jaxon Slaugh.
Mayson Jeppsen paced Box Elder (0-9) with 23 points and eight rebounds. Carter Buchanan added 17 points.
SYRACUSE 64, ELKO-NV 52
RIVERTON — Skyler Orton totaled 18 points and seven rebounds to get Syracuse past Elko (Nevada) at Riverton High’s tournament.
Carter Robinson added 16 points and five rebounds for Syracuse (6-5). Brad Trejo and Colton Hoenigman each passed four assists.
HIGHLAND 88, WEBER 80 (2OT)
HOLLADAY — Ben Olpin scored 30 points on six 3-pointers but Weber fell to Highland in a second overtime Friday at Olympus High’s Utah Autism Holiday Classic.
Luke Bingham netted 22 points on a diet of 11 two-pointers for Weber (7-3). Ryder Howe scored 17 points.
All 88 Highland points came from its starting lineup.
OLYMPUS 62, LAYTON 55
HOLLADAY — Olympus won the fourth quarter 28-17 to down Layton at the Titans’ own Utah Autism Holiday Classic.
Karter Miller led Layton (8-2) with 19 points. Chase, Randall, Sam Romer and Jonah Fullmer each scored nine points.
LAYTON CHRISTIAN 58, O’CONNOR-AZ 41
LA VERNE, Calif. — Alan Gballou totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds as Layton Christian beat Sandra Day O’Connor (Arizona) Friday in The Classic at Damien.
Tyrin Jones scored 15 points for LCA (7-5).

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville lost touch with Farmington in their overtime period.
Charity McDonald led Bonneville (4-5) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Baya Jimenez added 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Stacey Tesch added five rebounds and five steals.
CEDAR VALLEY 38, CLEARFIELD 31
EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Izzy Wyaskett totaled eight points, four rebounds, four assists and six steals but it wasn’t enough in a road loss.
Ciara De La O added seven points for Clearfield (5-4) and Brighton Bernards pitched in six points, eight rebounds and four steals.
