Prep basketball roundup: Fremont girls tally 7th win in trip to Box Elder

BRIGHAM CITY — Fremont High girls basketball led 36-18 at the half on the way to a 69-46 win Wednesday night at Box Elder.

Abby Christensen led all scorers with 25 points for Fremont (7-1). Olivia Surrage scored 12 points and Sophie Valdez added 11 points with two 3-pointers.

Jocelyn Vranes paced Box Elder (0-8) with 16 points and three 3s. Brooklyn Burt added seven points.

SKY VIEW 48, ROY 42

ROY — Roy led 17-4 after the first quarter but Sky View controlled the game the rest of the way.

Rihanna May led Roy (2-5) with 17 points and three 3-pointers. Jerzee Hart tallied a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jazzy Prieto added eight points with two 3s.

HIGLEY-AZ 55, MORGAN 49

PHOENIX — Morgan fell behind Higley (Arizona) 40-19 at halftime and the Trojans’ second-half rally came up short in a loss at Nike’s Tournament of Champions

Eva Birkeland led Morgan (5-5) with 16 points on four 3-pointers and three steals. Makayla Williams added nine points. Kamry Wardell hauled in five rebounds and Alexis Burt dished out six assists.

CLEARFIELD 43, SPRINGVILLE 40

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield led 22-14 at halftime and held off visiting Springville on Monday.

Izzy Wyaskett totaled 13 points, five rebounds and three assists for Clearfield (5-3). Brighton Bernards scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Ciara De La O pitched in 11 points with three steals.

DRAPER APA 56, WEST FIELD 43

TAYLOR — West Field held American Preparatory Academy-Draper to just four first-quarter points but couldn’t keep the Eagles back from there in a home loss Tuesday.

Canyon Britt knocked down three 3s and led West Field (2-6) with 15 points. Meghan Peterson added eight points.

La’La Baldwin, currently the No. 2 scorer in the state, netted 25 points for Class 2A Draper APA (6-4).

SALT LAKE CITY — Layton led 31-25 and pulled away to beat Skyline.

Karter Miller and Tage Allen each scored 15 points to lead Layton (6-1). Miller made two 3-pointers. Sam Romer tallied 13 points.

HIGHLAND 72, FREMONT 48

PLAIN CITY — Easton Duft led all scorers with 20 points, four 3-pointers and two assists but Fremont fell to Highland at home.

Jace Hadley scored 10 points for Fremont (3-6). Cam Campbell had seven rebounds and Dylan Bruce swiped three steals.

FARMINGTON 71, NORTHRIDGE 65

FARMINGTON — Northridge won the fourth quarter 23-10 but the rally came up short in a loss at Farmington

Jace Whitear led Northridge (1-7) with 21 points and Cael Lake scored 19. Lake and Whitear each made four 3-pointers. Jay Oliver added 22 points and two treys.

WEST 67, ROY 62

SALT LAKE CITY — Roy led 52-45 after three quarters but couldn’t stymie West’s offense in a road loss.

Colby Frokjer led Roy (0-7) with 21 points and five 3-pointers. Devin Nelson and Boston Greenhalgh each tallied 11 points while Tripp Randall scored 10.

RIDGELINE 58, WEST FIELD 55

TAYLOR — Daxton Laughter made a layup with 40.7 seconds left to bring West Field to within two points at 54-52, but Ridgeline (7-2, 1-0 Region 11) went 4 of 4 from the free-throw line in the final 19.9 seconds to hand the Longhorns a region loss at home.

Jaxon Slaugh led all scorers with 18 points and three 3-pointers for West Field (4-4, 0-1). Jaden Fowers scored 11 points, Jordan Harrison added nine points and Laughter scored eight. West Field trailed 46-25 after three quarters.

GREEN CANYON 64, BEAR RIVER 51

GARLAND — Kash Avery and Kody Nelson each scored nine points as Bear River (4-6, 0-1 Region 11) fell at home to undefeated Green Canyon (11-0, 1-0 Region 11).
