Prep roundup: High school season starts, Barber nets hat trick for Box Elder girls soccer

BRIGHAM CITY — Kaydence Barber netted a hat trick to lead Box Elder High girls soccer past Bear River 5-1 in the cross-county rivalry Tuesday to open the high school sports season.
Madi Thurgood and Olivia Godfrey also scored for Box Elder (1-0).
Bear River (0-1) scored in the 39th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Scoring info wasn’t provided.

SPANISH FORK — Abby Affleck scored a brace to lead Syracuse to a season-opening win at Maple Mountain.
Hailey Curtis also netted for Syracuse (1-0). Avery Sanders assisted both Affleck goals and Talia Thompson assisted Curtis.

KAYSVILLE — Four different players scored in Davis’ (1-0) season-opening win late Tuesday night. T’maea Eteuati, Kate Willard, Avery Thal and Emmerson Taylor scored for the Darts.
Elesha Magley kept the shutoutin goal. Lydia Neville, Marli Francis and Sammy Maudsley had assists.
