The second biggest professional golf tournament in Utah is moving to Weber County.

The Korn Ferry Tour’s Utah Championship will be played at Ogden Golf & Country Club from 2025-27, the Utah Sports Commission announced Tuesday.

The South Ogden club takes over the PGA undercard tour’s stop in Utah from Farmington’s Oakridge Country Club, where it has been played since 2017. In the event’s 33-year history, it has also been played at Thanksgiving Point (Lehi), Willow Creek Country Club (Sandy) and Riverside Country Club (Provo).

“With live coverage on NBC’s Golf Channel, this world-class golf event will provide the city of Ogden and the surrounding area with significant national and global exposure,” said Jeff Robbins, president of the Utah Sports Commission, in a news release.

Ogden native and Fremont High alum Patrick Fishburn is among several (including Zac Blair and Connor Howe) who have played or still play on the Korn Ferry Tour.

“I’m excited to have the Utah Championship at Ogden Golf & Country Club. It’s a special place to me, it’s where I learned the game and where I continue to play and practice at when I’m home,” Fishburn said in a news release. “It’s an old-school course that should provide a fun challenge for the players. Looking forward to seeing it on the Golf Channel!”

No date is set for the 2025 Utah Championship. Previous tournaments were held in June before 2021, when the Korn Ferry moved the Utah event to August. The 2024 tournament was played Aug. 1-4.

Ogden Golf & Country Club was founded in 1914 and is the oldest club in Utah still at its original location. It’s the home course for Weber State’s golf teams and has hosted the Utah Open and the Utah State Amateur, the LPGA, and USGA qualifiers.

Each season, the top 30 players on Korn Ferry Tour get their shot by advancing to the PGA Tour.

OGDEN MARATHON 12K BECOMES 8-MILE

The GOAL Foundation announced Tuesday it has tweaked the 12K run for the 2025 Ogden Marathon, changing it to an 8-mile race.

The slightly longer distance (the 12K was 7.5 miles) will allow participants a safer and larger drop-off and warm-up space at the Northrop Grumman Conference Center in the Ogden Canyon. The foundation plans to upgrade the pre-race experience with music and coffee, it says.

Plus, the additional half-mile means more canyon running.

“The upgraded 8-mile course allows runners to experience the entirety of Ogden Canyon’s scenic views, making this race an even more stunning part of the Ogden Marathon experience,” a news release reads.

The race’s actual distance will amount to 8.2 miles, the GOAL Foundation says. Runners signed up for the 12K who do not want to race in the 8-mile event can switch to the 5K and be refunded the difference, or not compete and receive a full refund, if either change is requested by Oct. 25.

The marathon now stages races of 5K, 8 miles, half marathon (13.1 miles) and full marathon (26.2 miles), the last of which is a Boston Marathon qualifier. Duo teams (assisted push) are available for the full or half marathon distances, and the full can also be completed as a relay team of 2-5 people.

The 24th Ogden Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025.
