BYU, Utah to play every season in new Big 12 football schedules
The new Big 12 Conference released its league football schedules for the first four years of the newly expanded format that includes Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado.
And the BYU-Utah rivalry will be played every year.
The football series colloquially called the Holy War is one of a handful of “protected rivalries” that will be played yearly no matter how the rest of the schedule rotation plays out for the 16-team conference.
The rivalry series resumes for the first time since 2021 when the teams play in Salt Lake City in 2024.
In additional wrinkle, conference schedules for both BYU and Utah are arranged in a way that whoever goes on the road in the rivalry gets five home conference games that season.
Both teams also play Arizona and Arizona State in three of the next four seasons.
The new Big 12 also reunites BYU and Utah with TCU, a former conference foe from two previous affiliations (WAC, MWC).
Below is the breakdown of each team’s future Big 12 schedules.
