Plea bargain for Ogden man who burned house, fired shots and fought police
OGDEN — A man charged with setting fire to his house, firing shots and fighting police has entered into a plea bargain with prosecutors.
Adam Partridge, 43, of Ogden, was arrested on May 26, 2021, at his home in the 600 North block of Harrison Boulevard. Charging documents said Ogden firefighters responded to the blaze, found evidence in the home that the fire was set intentionally and called police. Police found Partridge in a garage, but he ran back into the burning house and kicked two officers down a staircase as they tried to arrest him.
In a plea bargain last week between defense attorney Richard Gallegos and the Weber County Attorney’s Office, Partridge pleaded guilty to second-degree felony arson, third-degree felony discharge of a firearm and class A misdemeanor assault on a peace officer.
The agreement calls for the sentences to run concurrently and that Partridge later may have the charges reduced if he graduates from veteran’s court and mental health court.
Prosecutors originally charged Partridge with first-degree felony aggravated arson, third-degree felony discharge of a firearm and four misdemeanors: two counts of assault on a police officer and charges of interfering with an arresting officer and propelling a bodily substance at an officer. The plea bargain erases one of the assault charges and the other two misdemeanors.
In charging documents, police said they saw Partridge standing by the garage and he ran into the burning house. They told him to stop and said he was under arrest, but he ran up the stairs.
“Adam kicked two officers down the stairs and spit on another,” the police probable cause statement said.
After arresting Partridge and getting a search warrant, police reported that they found a blowtorch near the basement door, bullet holes in the front window and the master bedroom mattress, and a phone in the yard with three bullet holes in it.
Second District Judge Joseph Bean set sentencing for Oct. 13.
