Boy in critical condition after alleged assault in Hooper

HOOPER — A weekend altercation involving two juveniles in Hooper resulted in one of the boys being hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.

Per a Monday release from Lt. Colby Ryan of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, medical personnel from the Weber Fire District and Weber Metro CSI responded to a residence near 5600 W. 3800 South at around 7:39 a.m. Saturday following an aggravated assault report.

“Two male juveniles were involved in an altercation, during which one juvenile was severely assaulted and sustained serious injuries,” the Weber County Sheriff’s Office statement read. “The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and later transferred to Primary Children’s Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.”

According to police, the suspect was taken into custody and booked into a juvenile detention facility “on multiple felony charges” in the wake of the incident.

Neither the victim’s identity nor that of the suspect have been released. The investigation remains active and ongoing. The Weber County Sheriff’s Office could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday.
