WEBER COUNTY — A Weber County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been placed on leave following an alleged domestic incident.

According to a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office that came out Thursday, the incident occurred nearly a month ago.

“The Weber County Sheriff’s Office was notified of Deputy Zachary Anderson’s arrest by the Sunset Police Department on January 17, 2025, for domestic violence assault and intoxication,” the release said. “Deputy Anderson was off duty at the time of his arrest and was placed on administrative leave the following morning.”

Thursday’s release noted that no further information will be shared at this time “due to the ongoing internal investigation and pending judicial process.”

According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers were summoned to Anderson’s residence in Sunset because of a report of a domestic incident on Jan. 16.

“I spoke with the victim that explained her husband had hit her,” the affidavit said. “Her husband was identified as Zachary Anderson and they have been married for several years. A verbal argument was taking place when Zachary used unlawful force against the victim by striking her face with the back of his hand. This left an obvious red mark on her face. Zachary had been drinking alcohol and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. His person was releasing the alcoholic vapor to the degree that he was a danger to the victim.”

Anderson was charged with intoxication and assault.
