OGDEN — A woman who died after being found with a gunshot wound on an Ogden roadway last week has been identified by her family.

According to a release from the Ogden Police Department, officers responded to a call regarding an individual lying in the roadway on the 400 block of 800 North in Ogden at approximately 9:06 p.m. Wednesday. The victim — identified by family as Nakeena Youngman, 40, of Salt Lake City — was found with a single gunshot wound to the upper left chest.

She was transported to a local hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. In the wake of the incident, a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses was launched by her daughter, Adrianna Lopez.

“She was a wonderful woman who truly deserved a long life, but sadly, it was taken from her too soon,” Lopez stated in the campaign description. “My mom had a vibrant personality and was loved by everyone; she always lit up the room.”

Police have not released any additional information related to Youngman’s death; however, last week’s release stated that there does not appear to be any ongoing danger to the public. Anyone who may have information regarding the incident is advised to contact OPD by calling 801-395-8224.

“We appreciate the assistance witnesses provide and encourage anyone with additional information to come forward,” the release stated.

Starting at $4.32/week.
