Man killed after being hit by car in Wall Avenue crosswalk on Monday

OGDEN — One person was killed after being struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon.

According to an Ogden Police Department press release posted on Facebook, officers responded at around 4 p.m. Monday to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident near the intersection of Wall Avenue and 33rd Street. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was using a designated crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle, however, the initial investigation indicates that the crosswalk signals were not being used properly,” the release said. “The driver left the scene but was stopped by officers a short distance later. The driver is cooperating with the investigation. Further details are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.”

No further details had been released as of Tuesday.

The incident is under investigation by the Weber-Morgan CRASH Team. OPD is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact its Traffic Bureau at 801-395-8221.
