OGDEN — Ogden police are investigating the death of a man officers found in the area of 29th Street and Childs Avenue after receiving multiple reports about gunshots.
The matter is under investigation and officials aren’t saying much at this stage. The calls from the public came in Tuesday around 3 a.m.
“Upon arrival, officers located a male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds,” the Ogden Police Department said in a statement on Thursday. Responders attempted life-saving measures, “but the victim, 34-year-old Robert Bien of Ogden, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Officials are asking for the assistance of anyone who may have information on the incident. “Anyone that may be a witness or that has video footage from the area on that date and time are asked to please call the Investigations Bureau at 801 629-8228,” says the police statement.
Two residents in the area said Thursday that there was a lot of police activity on the street in the aftermath of the incident but they don’t know what happened. They asked to remain anonymous.

“It was 3 in the morning. I was sound asleep, woke up to what I assume was gunfire,” said one of the residents. “It’s not something you expect to happen right in front of your house.”
The site where Bien was found is a quiet residential area.
