Letter: A message about political integrity

Mar 24, 2025

May I remark about the importance of integrity in our public conversations concerning intent and deportment?

For those who have been paying attention and know somewhat of the history of our national political debates, I remind you that jumping from one side of a fence to the other is not integrity. For example, if you are all about green energy and EVs under one administration, and then do a 180 and burn your Tesla, or support those who do, you have no integrity of principle or purpose. If you allow Constitutional drift when it suits your fancy under the Democratic leadership, then protest and scream “foul” for this under the Republicans, you have no political integrity or principles.

An intelligent person would know about Congressional gridlock that has been going on for decades, getting nothing done except vote us into inflationary spending measures. You would also know that Presidential leadership is crucial to policy. Under the former President Biden no one demonstrated against his executive order to give taxpayer money to paying off student debt, though the Supreme Court found it unconstitutional. There were many such instances where that President did not do his Constitutional duty to protect our borders, enforce laws on the books, etc. etc. No demonstrations against that. Now we have the turnabout, the Tesla burners, the Trump haters, all screaming, “unconstitutional!”

I favor supporting the elected standing President in his efforts to rein in spending waste and fraud, protect the borders, expel illegal immigrants, apply reciprocal tariffs, and so on. Congress will never get this done, and there is urgency in all of it! I call upon intelligent people to explain to those whose only interest is for themselves, to be patient as this duly elected President moves to fix the ills of our national, Federal, government.
