Letter: Elected officials forgetting their sworn duty
I gave 30 years of service to my nation, 20 as active duty military and 10 as inactive reserve. I think I can find 30 minutes a day to reach out to our elected officials and stand against the destruction of our country from enemies within. I can’t remain silent while unscrupulous people wage a culture war against fellow Americans or when a president says he’ll send Americans off to prisons in El Salvador, or we’ll occupy another people’s land, displace them, and give the land to billionaire friends to build resorts. I don’t consent to Elon Musk accessing my data or meta data or illegally messing with protected government computer systems without Congressional oversight. We didn’t elect this foreign-born man to any office. I feel like America is being gutted from the inside out. I have time to dedicate, every day, to make my voice heard by contacting our representatives. So many of them are showing weakness. They need us to remind them of their duty and the oath they swore before God.
