Letter: The leaders we choose influence how we treat each other
What type of person do you want to represent our country as president? Children are taught to look up to presidents and encouraged to emulate the leaders of our country. How do we want people to act in our communities and to treat one another? I hope that all of us will not take anything at face value just because it is posted in the news or on social media. Let’s do our research. Fact-check everything. We are being duped with propaganda by being promised things by our politicians that cannot possibly be delivered. Choose the lesser of two evils, if you don’t know how to vote. Our country will not cease to exist no matter who is in office, but the civility exemplified will depend on the person serving in the highest office in this land.
Those Deceived
Ears that hear but will not hear.
Eyes that see that will not see;
blinders on, believing truths
that aren’t.
They look through a glass darkly–
a blurry lens narrowing
logic and knowledge
that shrinks the wanting
to choose otherwise–
to open the mind,
to question,
to explore,
to ponder;
to seek for what is real;
worshipping a messenger of chaos,
who spews falsehoods, the delusions of
a warped mind.
Oh! The folly of the followers of lies
who are bound by filtered and distorted
views of reality!
How can this be?
It is unfathomable to those who will see,
who will hear,
who will seek
Truth.
