Letter: Ogden Canyon road is safe so long as drivers pay attention

Oct 31, 2024

Much to-do is happening because of the traffic deaths in Ogden Canyon this summer.

The deaths were not caused because of road conditions.

It’s a well kept road with well kept lane markings.

It’s a scenic drive that requires a driver’s attention and common sense.

The deaths were caused by human error, improper passing for one. And an insecure heavy load for the other.

The 2 victims at the heavy load accident were in the wrong place at the wrong time — a sad situation that should not have happened.

Human error causes traffic deaths a large percentage of the time. Many roads; I-15, different canyon roads, country or city by-ways, all have auto deaths because of human error.

Driver education, warning and reminder signs and some caring common sense would and could reduce and prevent this roadway slaughter. Most roads are innocent contributors.

P.S. Control your speed also. (My wife offered this word of wisdom.)
