Letter: Choberka’s leadership is needed in House District 9

Oct 7, 2024

Elected officials are required to have an excess of constructive characteristics to ensure success. After reading the Guest Opinion in the Standard Examiner, I would like to share how I have personally experienced positive attributes in working with Angela Choberka, who is seeking representation in Utah House District 9. I have worked on a professional level with Mrs. Choberka for over 10 years and her dedication to the residents of Ogden is inspiring. When I think about the characteristics of a good leader, the top three traits that come to mind are integrity, collaboration and accountability.

1. Integrity- Mrs. Choberka is one of the most genuine individuals I have had the pleasure to meet. She is honest and ethical while also being realistic and practical. She can be trusted to uphold her commitment to those she represents.

2. Collaboration- Elected officials are a mouthpiece for all people, not just the elite. How can a representative be effective if they are not coordinating with those they serve? Mrs. Choberka attends community meetings, pulls meetings together when gaps in the community are identified and sits on numerous local boards. She is willing to coordinate and collaborate and makes time in her busy schedule to meet with constituents. Most importantly, she listens. She hears what the community is saying and she collaborates to make change happen.

3. Accountability- When Mrs. Choberka says she is going to do something, she does it! You don’t have to worry about something not being done. She always follows up and follows through. She is accountable to the people of Ogden and she takes that responsibility very seriously.

Utah needs effective, efficient and positive leadership and Angela Choberka is the representative that will guide House District 9 in the right direction.
