Letter: My opinion on three recently published letters
Editor, three interesting letters in Wednesday, 18 Dec 2024 Standard Examiner! A mister from Ogden was wondering about the “tradition” of Presidents pardoning criminals as they leave office. Well, Sir, it’s in the U S Constitution! Biden did pardon his son, Hunter Biden. Trump granted Executive Clemency to 237 individuals charged or convicted of Federal criminal offenses using his clemency power under Article 11, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution! The majority of his executive clemency grants were made to well-connected convicts who did not file the proper paper work! The vast majority were to persons Trump had a personal or political connection! A significant number had been convicted of fraud or corruption! This info is from Wikipedia when I Googled Trump granted pardons! On 14 December, 1863 Abraham Lincoln pardoned his sister-in-law who was a widow of a Confederate General!
The next letter talks about Trump taking an oath with one hand on the Bible to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States! Then when he lost the election he tried to bypass the Constitution and lied to the American people! What a lack of moral fiber and ethical standards! Great letter!
The last letter talked about being aware of scams! Lots of important information everybody should read! Three great letters from three people who knew what they were talking about!
