This letter refers to candidates running for office who do not feel it is necessary to get out and meet their constituents and answer questions This makes no sense. Why would you run for office and not talk to the people who have the power to help you win?

The Weber County League of Women Voters is a non-partisan educational group. Sure, we each have our own opinions, but you will never see them at any event or gathering we sponsor. Our focus is involvement and voting — we don’t care who you vote for — JUST VOTE! There have been many community events where candidates have been invited and some have never attended. I always wonder why.

Please do not be afraid to stand up and face the people you represent. That is part of the position, and my hat is off to all candidates who do regardless of what party they represent. I don’t vote by party — I vote by person. The League of Women Voters encourages all citizens to VOTE — the Constitution gives us the right and many have fought hard so we can.
