For years, both before and during my time on the Ogden City Council, I have built a reputation for working with community partners and residents to address the most pressing needs of our community. What makes this possible? Trust. I’ve always believed in breaking through political divides to focus on what’s best for the people of Ogden, and that commitment has led to real change. Here’s just a glimpse of the work we’ve accomplished together:

  • Bridging communities: I worked with law enforcement to create more trusting relationships through supporting the interfaith community, Americans Coming Together for Immigrants in Ogden & Nationwide (ACTION), Latinos United to Promote Education and Civic Engagement (LUPEC), Ogden NAACP and residents in crucial conversations and action.
  • Developing human-first solutions for homelessness: I proudly advocated for the creation of the Homeless Advocate Program within the Ogden Police Department as a human-first approach to addressing the complex issue of connecting unsheltered residents with resources.
  • Securing opportunities for families: I helped secure a $10 million multi-sector grant along with United Way of Northern Utah, Ogden School District, OTECH, WSU and numerous community partners to support the community school model to help families and students succeed. This initiative provides families and students with the tools to thrive, creating brighter futures right here in Ogden.
  • Preserving our legacy: I facilitated community conversations and led the effort along with others to ensure the Marshall N. White Center remained in its original location and will continue to perpetuate his legacy of community engagement and service.
  • Innovating housing solutions: I’ve supported the creation and improvement of innovative housing initiatives like the Rocky Mountain Home Fund and Own in Ogden programs which help to eliminate barriers to homeownership and provide the opportunity for families to build generational wealth.
  • Empowering local leadership: Co-created the Resident Leader Program in partnership with Ogden CAN where resident interns solve grassroots community issues such as food insecurity and health disparities. These leaders are paid to make a difference in their own neighborhoods.
  • Championing sustainability: Helped to move our community toward more sustainable natural resource usage by working with WSU Sustainability, serving on the Utah Clean Energy Steering Committee and the Community Renewable Energy Board. I’m proud to have championed the hiring of a full-time sustainability coordinator for Ogden City.

In every instance, I’ve listened to diverse perspectives, done the research and worked collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for all of us. Now, I’m ready to continue that work as your representative in the Utah House for District 9.

This November, vote for proven leadership. Vote Angela Choberka.
