Letter: Not thrilled about either political party’s nominee

Oct 27, 2024

I don’t usually share how I vote, but I will share how I won’t vote this time around. I’m an Army veteran and my youngest son is an active duty Army Combat Medic. We take the defense of the Constitution business very seriously. I’ve also been counseled to “vote my conscience” by other faith based leaders, family, friends, and the like. I believe that the predominant party’s current choices for candidates are absolutely deplorable! So much so that I considered not voting at all. In the past, I voted for Trump just to make sure we didn’t get the debauchery of the Clintons all over again. I’m not proud of that, but I did resolve to not vote for anybody again if I didn’t believe in what they stood for. The current choices we have for either Republican or Democrat are ambivalent in all the wrong places – we face tyranny, widespread lawlessness, financial  and moral bankruptcy, illegal intrusion from all corners of the globe, and no real solutions for any of it from either party. Do I feel abandoned? Not exactly, but I do feel ignored, and that seems worse I suppose. I feel that the Constitution of the United States is being ignored as well. I will not vote for either party just to keep the other from office. Not smart. But I will be voting for Mr. Chase Oliver – who seems to have a spine.
