OGDEN — On the heels of a successful launch event last spring, a burgeoning tentpole series for Ogden’s beer and wine scene is set to return to one of downtown’s best-known venues.
The second annual Ogden Beer Fest will be held April 19 from 4 to 10 p.m. at The Monarch, located at 455 25th St.
Early-bird tickets are available now for $23; admission includes a commemorative sample cup and five sample pours. Additional sample pours are available for pre-purchase or can be purchased on-site during the event.
Space is limited and tickets are expected to sell out.
Last year’s event took the baton from old favorites like the Spring Beer Fest and Peculiar Pours and ran with it. Ogden Beer Fest co-founder and producer Chase Burch told the Standard-Examiner that more than 1,000 people attended the first gathering.
Meanwhile, several hundred turned out for a Boos & Brews fall event.
“It’s been great. It has been really well received. I think the events that came before kind of primed the pump and I think the timing was right,” Burch said. “Beer is definitely one of these things that people just enjoy in their everyday life and a lot of people enjoy it together and it’s nice to be able to create a space for people to go celebrate that isn’t just at a bar.”
A veritable bonanza of beverage vendors will be on hand for the event, a majority of which are Utah-based operations.
Participating breweries/purveyors will include Ogden Beer Co., Roosters Brewing Co., UTOG Brewing Co., Talisman Brewing Co., Ogden’s Own Distillery, Epic Brewing Co., Squatters Craft Beers, Wasatch Brewery, Second Summit Hard Cider Co. and Mountain West Hard Cider Co.
Burch said organizers are using the lessons learned from past events to create a more streamlined experience for attendees with shorter lines and better flow throughout the venue. There will also be more than just beverages available for people to enjoy.
The Banyan Collective’s “Van Sessions” will once again be presenting live music. Food will be provided by Lucky Slice Pizza and Weller’s Bistro. Finally, Burch also expects that many of the artists and vendors who occupy space at The Monarch will open their doors.
“Let’s celebrate the crafting community of beer in Ogden,” Burch added.
