Lloyd has more than two decades of experience at the Daily Herald, with his most recent duties being sports reporting and editing since 2011.
“I’m excited to have this opportunity,” Lloyd said. “I’m passionate about providing fair, objective reporting, something we too often lack in national media these days. I’m honored to be working in the Ogden and Utah Valley communities and look forward to doing my best to ensure our readers get top-quality local journalism.”
Lloyd began his career as a professional journalist in 2002 with a student sports reporting position at Brigham Young University. After graduating in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in communication, he began working for the Daily Herald as a news reporter. He moved into the sports department two months later and has spent most of the last 20 years covering high school, college and professional sports as an award-winning reporter, columnist and photographer.
Lloyd also has experience in business writing, education reporting, breaking news coverage, radio and television.
“Jared will bring years of experience and a real commitment to community news to his new position,” said Jim Konig, publisher of the Standard-Examiner and Daily Herald newspapers.
