OGDEN — A 58-year-old man died as a result of a motorcycle crash near Ogden-Hinckley Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from the Ogden City Police Department, the victim was traveling north “at a high rate of speed” on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the area of 4000 S. Airport Road just before 1 p.m. when they “lost control and left the roadway,” incurring significant injuries in the process.

Ogden police and fire units responded to the crash and administered emergency aid to the rider on the scene before he was transported to a local hospital. However, he later died from the crash-related injuries.

Officials have not released the man’s identity.

Roy Police Lt. Stuart Hackworth told the Standard-Examiner that the man had been observed behaving in a “threatening” manner in Roy prior to the fatal accident, resulting in a report being made to his department.

“The officer saw the motorcycle leaving the area, attempted to stop it, it did not stop and the motorcycle sped off,” Hackworth said. “The officer discontinued and was well out of sight when the accident occurred.”

No other vehicles or subjects were involved in the crash, according to police. Airport Road was closed temporarily while the Weber-Morgan CRASH Team investigated the incident.
