Weber State’s Indigenous Voices Pow Wow returning to Dee Events Center

Weber State University hosted the 44th Annual Indigenous Voices Pow Wow at the Dee Events Center on March 30, 2024.OGDEN — Next month, Weber State University will continue its tradition of celebrating the culture of indigenous peoples.
The 45th annual Indigenous Voices Pow Wow — presented by the Native American Student Association and Student Success Center at WSU — will be held at Dee Events Center on March 15. The free, all-day event is open to the public and will run from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
This year’s Pow Wow is set to feature singing, competition dancing and arts and crafts. Dancers will enter the arena at noon and 6 p.m.
“The Native American Student Association (NASA) and Student Success Center (SSC) at Weber State University are very excited to be hosting this year’s 45th Annual Indigenous Voices Pow Wow,” Amanda Jones, student engagement program manager at the Student Success Center, wrote in an email to the Standard-Examiner. “It’s a great time to showcase the leadership of the students and to learn, experience and enjoy!”
Corey Reeder of the Wichita & Affiliated Tribes of Anadarko, Oklahoma, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Lane Neaman will serve as arena director, while Tashina Barber and Wayne Holliday will serve as Head Woman and Head Man, respectively. Ghost Canyon Singers will provide host drumming.
WSU’s Native American Student Association is a student-run club that organizes activities and events honoring Native American cultures.
“The NASA hosts this event to create lasting relationships between the University, surrounding Native Communities and members from Ogden City and beyond who partake in the festivities,” the event notice read.
