One of two vehicles involved in a fatal crash Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, on state Route 126 in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Cameron Roden, public information officer with the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 4:33 p.m. on state Route 126 (1900 West) near 1750 South.

“There was a Ford pickup truck that was traveling northbound,” he said. “For a reason we’re still looking into, that vehicle crossed over from northbound into the southbound lane and kind of continued. … There was a southbound Toyota Sequoia that saw the truck and was trying to move to the right and then they hit head-on on the edge of the southbound lane.”

An 18-year-old female — identified as the driver of the Sequoia — was transported to a local hospital in extreme critical condition but died from her injuries. An identification of the victim had not been made available as of Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the pickup truck, only described as a male, was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Roden said his injuries appear non-life-threatening.

He added the crash remains under investigation.
