Highway 158 over Pineview Dam, pictured here on Monday, April 4, 2022, will be closed for part of Tuesday, April 5, and Wednesday, April 6, to accommodate dam maintenance.

The road over the Pineview Dam is to be closed Tuesday and Wednesday to accommodate maintenance work on the dam.

The closure of Highway 58 in the short segment just north of state Route 39 is tentatively set to start at 8 a.m. Tuesday and go through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

“This vital work is needed to keep the dam in good working order. Water releases and reservoir levels will not be adjusted as part of this work,” Pineview Water Systems said in a Facebook post.

Highway 58 connects to state Route 39, the Ogden Canyon Road, traveling in a northerly direction on the west side of Pineview Reservoir to the Eden area. The closure plans mean motorists traveling between east Ogden and the Eden area will potentially have to travel to Huntsville on state Route 39 then loop around the east side of the reservoir or take the North Ogden Canyon Road.

The Pineview Water Systems website said the road section will be closed on at least four different dates for around a day at a time on each occasion to facilitate work.

Pineview Dam is owned by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and is operated and maintained by the Ogden River Water Users Association, according to Pineview Water Systems. The dam controls water flow from Pineview Reservoir to the west into the Ogden River.
