OGDEN — The Weber County Commission reappointed members to the county’s Veterans Advisory Committee during an abridged version its weekly meeting Tuesday.

Following a brief presentation from Kristy Bingham from the commission’s office, commissioners approved an ordinance reappointing Terry Schow and Dan Czech to the committee, after their previous terms ended Dec. 31. They’ll now serve new terms through 2027.

Approved consent items from Tuesday’s meeting included the surplussing of computer equipment from the Weber County Library and vehicles from the Weber County Transfer Station. The commission also signed off on purchase orders in the amount of approximately $265,000 and warrants totaling roughly $1.7 million.

During the meeting, Commissioner Sharon Bolos read aloud a letter received by Weber County from Huntsville Mayor Richard Sorensen, along with members of the municipality’s City Council, thanking county staffers for their assistance amid the leak that depleted its water supply in December.

In the wake of the incident, which saw virtually all of Huntsville’s roughly 600 residents lose water service for several days, Sorensen told the Standard-Examiner that cities, organizations and volunteers from around the region made donations of water, equipment and/or labor.

Following the approval of consent items, the commission convened a closed session to discuss pending or imminent litigation.

Boosters of the Ogden Valley incorporation effort recently filed suit against the county and the commission over planned expansion of the Nordic Valley ski resort, though the nature of the litigation commissioners intended to discuss wasn’t articulated.

Starting at $4.32/week.
