Ogden City Council members contemplating reelection in 2025
OGDEN — The 2024 election season is over … just in time to give way to the 2025 election season in Weber County.
For the Ogden City Council, that means four council members — Angela Choberka (District 1), Ken Richey (District 3), Marcia White (at-large Seat A) and Bart Blair (at-large Seat B) — are entering the final year of their current terms.
Richey, who currently chairs the board and is finishing his first term, told the Standard-Examiner he plans to run again in 2025.
“Over the past 3 years I’ve learned a great deal about the city, the council processes, and have been involved in many important decisions,” he said in an email to the Standard-Examiner. “I was honored by fellow council members to be elected to serve as Vice Chair last year, and Chair of the council this year. This added leadership responsibility gave me the opportunity to work closely with Mayor Nadolski and the administration. The city is currently undertaking significant planning steps which will provide the basis for the direction we take as a city. My experience in my first term will help me be even more effective to make the difficult decisions that will come in my second term.”
Blair, who is finishing his fourth term on the board, said he also plans to seek reelection.
“At this point I remain committed and enthusiastic about continuing to serve our community as a member of the Ogden City Council,” he said in an email to the Standard-Examiner.
Choberka, who is finishing her second term on the board, told the Standard-Examiner that she is undecided as of now.
The Standard-Examiner reached out to White, but received no response as of press time.
Potential candidates will have a while to decide for sure if they want to run. The Weber County elections page notes that the candidate filing period is set for June 2-6. The primary election is set for Aug. 12, with the general election to be held Nov. 4.
