OGDEN — The front doors of the Ogden Municipal Building — closed during the COVID-19 pandemic as a safety precaution – have reopened.

After the pandemic started in early 2020, the main entry to the building off Washington Boulevard was closed to the public to better manage the entry of people. Fewer were working out of the structure at 2549 S. Washington Blvd. and those with business inside were directed to the first-floor entry at the rear of the building, where a security guard is stationed.

The front doors, which enter the building’s second floor, had remained closed even as the pandemic waned, prompting grumbling by some who thought it indicative of a standoffish attitude by city officials toward the public. “We got some feedback about that,” said Mark Johnson, the city’s chief administrative officer.

That wasn’t the intent of the closure, though, and Johnson said the doors were reopened in early to mid-May after another security guard was brought on board to oversee entry of people from Washington Boulevard. “We were a little bit concerned about the security,” Johnson said.

Now the public can enter the building via either entry, same as before the pandemic.

Starting at $4.32/week.
