OGDEN — An arrest was made over the weekend in connection with an alleged altercation and fatal hit-and-run that occurred last week.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Martin Esparza Espinoza was arrested Saturday on a single charge of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the incident.

“The a/p was working as a security guard at an Ogden night club,” the affidavit said.  “The a/p was involved with confronting a male who supposedly would not pay for tacos and began to fight with security. The a/p became involved in the fight with the result being the male was left lying in the middle lane of Washington Blvd in the 3500 block.”

The affidavit alleges that Espinoza and two other security guards left the victim in the street.

“Less than one minute later, a car pulls out of a parking lot and, while turning left, runs over the male lying in the middle lane of Washington Blvd and later died of the massive injuries that were inflicted,” the affidavit continued. “It is unknown at this time if the driver of the car was involved in the fight or not.”

The victim has not been identified at this time.

The Standard-Examiner reached out to the Ogden Police Department to inquire about further information on what transpired and whether there are charges forthcoming for the other guards involved but received no response by press time.

No further information is available at this time.

Starting at $4.32/week.
